Optical commonly used thread size standard
This is the unique thread of Thorlabs in the United States, not the commonly used optical thread. SM is the code for the thread of the sewing machine in terms of thread expression, but this company in the United States uses it to connect the internal and external threads of the optical lens and the sleeve. The nature of the thread is UNS, and the United States has a special thread with a tolerance accuracy of 2A / 2B. The special place of this thread is 40 teeth per inch regardless of the diameter. The specific dimensions are as follows:
(1) Cage system U-shaped table provides a threaded mounting surface inside a standard 30mm cage system or similar lens tube device. For some small optical components that are not suitable for standard cage poles, the abundant threaded holes provide the flexibility necessary to construct small optical components on the U-shaped table. The solid one-piece structure is constructed into a rigid structure through precision machining to provide stability and maintain the alignment of the entire system.
(2) Each end of the U-shaped table has a standard SM1 (1.035"-40) thread, which makes it compatible with a variety of optical mounting components, such as the company's lens tube series.
(3) There are four through holes at each end, which are compatible with Ø6mm cage rods. There is a set screw on the side of the through hole. A 2mm hexagon wrench can be used to fix the cage rod to the U-shaped table.
(4) The U-shaped table has a rich threaded mounting surface, with 1/4"-20 and 8-32 threaded holes, metric M4/M6 threaded holes, M4/M6 countersunk grooves, and a variety of thread arrays are optional. Meet the installation requirements of most components.
